Where AI reaches its limits
When a large part of the picture is gone, like half a face or most of the background, the AI has to invent what was there. It will produce something plausible, but it can't recover information that no longer exists.
Busy or badly damaged backgrounds may be simplified to a clean backdrop. For precious or heavily damaged photos, compare the result with the original using the slider, and keep both.

Can it fix a photo that's torn in two?
Place both pieces edge to edge and scan or photograph them together as one image. The AI treats the tear like a deep crease and blends it. Results are best when the pieces line up closely.
Will my original file be changed?
No. You get a new, restored copy. Your original file stays as it was.
How should I capture a damaged print?
Scan it if you can. Otherwise lay it flat, light it from the side in daylight to avoid glare, and hold the phone parallel to the print. Don't press cracked prints under glass: reflections look like more damage.
